LINCOLN, Neb. – (December 10, 2025) - Visitors searching for Nebraska travel inspiration can now pick up the official 2026 Nebraska State Travel Guide.
New travelers and returning readers alike will find plentiful information on Nebraska’s events and festivals, attractions grouped by region and city and scenic byway road trips. Packed with vibrant visuals, informative descriptions, and a touch of wit, this book showcases what the state has to offer to every kind of traveler, families, solo travelers, history buffs, outdoor enthusiasts, foodies, shoppers and more.
The 2026 guide serves up lots of history in honor of America’s 250th birthday, including unique Nebraska trivia and a Nebraska timeline highlighting notable events, famous figures from “Buffalo Bill” Cody to Willa Cather and important sites to visit.
This year’s cover is an illustration by Lincoln, Nebraska artist Katie Nieland that features several attractions across the state, including:
- Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium
- The Lincoln Highway
- Nebraska wildlife
- Night skies, recognizing Nebraska’s first International Dark Sky Park, Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area
- Carhenge
- Chimney Rock
- The Cowboy Trail
“We’re thrilled to release the new travel guide each year, and this edition is especially fun to share,” said Jenn Gjerde, marketing manager for Visit Nebraska. “It’s full of new photos and an added focus on Nebraska’s rich history and heritage. Plus, we’re especially proud that this year’s cover showcases original artwork from a Nebraska creator, a real, human touch that reflects the spirit of the places and people that make our state unforgettable.”
In recent years, guides have been distributed to all 50 states and numerous countries, helping support a tourism industry that contributes $5.6 billion to Nebraska’s GDP, supports more than 41,000 jobs and generates over $1.1 billion in wages annually.
The 2026 Travel Guide is available for free and can be requested here, with an online version also available for download. Guides can also be found at visitor centers and tourism destinations across the state.
